Micro Meteor Bombardment

This is pretty cool. A Norwegian jazz guitarist and artist (really?) led an effort to confirm the idea that roofs are bombarded by micro meteorites. On the one hand, the idea seems obvioulight_microscope_images_of_stony_cosmic_spherules-800x610s. We do receive a constant rain of space dust. But on the other hand, evidence was lacking, and could you ever really find these tiny particles?

Well? Yes you can. There is very little of this space dust there (one tiny sphere for every 60kg of junk), but … it’s real! Six tons of dust a day hit earth, which amounts to every square meter getting hit about twice a year. Tiny and beautiful space spheres.
